Quickly

We're gearing up for a very busy week here. Work and school all week and into the weekend will make for little free time. I'm tired already. The boys are, thankfully, on the mend after our week of illness and I am feeling better as well. Aaron has a bit of a cold, but not the knock-you-down sort we all had.

I'm also feeling sad for my friend Sheena who lost her sister yesterday. Send good thoughts her way today.

Scratch That

Well, it seems that during the day Liam is a little better while Max is a basket case. The whining never ceases. The coughing is constant. And night time offers no respite. Poor Maxwell coughed from about 10:30 until after midnight. I was up with him in the chair. On the couch. Walking around. He finally fell back to sleep, but 5 hours isn't enough to have anyone feeling very rested. Thank goodness there's a grandparent rescue team scheduled to arrive later today!

Still Life with Bears

I think I've purchased a Harrod's bear every time I've been to London. I got one for each of my sisters, one for myself and now Liam and Max have their own, too! Liam's is the knight (obviously!) and Max's is the fluffy one.

Both bears have gotten lots of snuggles from sick kids this past week!
Thankfully, we seem to be on the mend.

Notes from the Couch

We're still sick here, and not up to much of anything. Both boys were up in the night crying and miserable. Same for mommy. Daddy is doing ok so far, and I'm hoping he doesn't get whatever we have. It's no fun.

I've just been mulling over life here on the couch and reminding myself how insignificant the budget bill, worrying about finances and worrying in general are. I'm sad for my friend Kate, who lost a friend in a car accident yesterday. And I'm happy for my friend Mary, who welcomed Genevieve Grace Rose to the world on Sunday. Life and death. Most other things pale in comparison.

Slump

It seems like I go through a "blog slump" around this time of year. The weather is always junky and we are almost always dealing with sickness of one kind or another...this year is no differnt. Aaron has somehow escaped the worst of the sickness so far, but the boys and I have been struggling with it for the past few days. With work, school, caring for the sick and being sick myself...not much else is going on.

Before the sickness descended, my parents came to visit. We spent the day at the Neville Public Museum, played a lot and hung out. It was nice having visitors! We're looking forward to our next trip up north as well!

Hope the sickness has passed over your homes!! I hope to return with cute pictures and profound posts soon...

Toe Be or Not Toe Be

Max dropped an exercise weight on his toe Tuesday night...

Poor boy! We took him to the doctor and he said it's not broken, thank goodness. Max is still hobbling around on it, but it's looking much better than it did! Aaron and I are mentally (and financially) preparing ourselves for many trips to the ER with this kid...he's quite fearless (and mischievous) and has better coordination than both of us combined (unfortunately not demonstrated well in the weight dropping incident!).

Sweet Tooth

After explaining a little bit about my Valentine's root canal to Liam he thought for a minute.

"Hey!" he said, "I can feel something that hurts in my mouth right here, too!"

He patted his cheek, "I think it's my sweet tooth."

Sigh

I've felt very uninspired to blog lately. I haven't had time or motivation to take many pictures and days fly by before I even realize that my last post was forever ago. Between the boys, the house, work and school there hasn't been time for much else. I've also been fighting overwhelming fatigue many days and end up going to bed early most nights. Everything is fine and most days are great, but I often fall into bed and into a deep sleep quickly.

We went up north for a visit this weekend and had fun seeing Auntie Kimmy and grandmas and grandpas. It's frustrating for me when we do go up north because Max never sleeps well. He always wakes up in the night and refuses to go back to sleep. I usually end up bringing him into bed with me and then he won't go to sleep and keeps us both up. I wish he'd figure out the whole sleep thing. He sleeps better at home, but still has nights when he's up and has trouble falling back to sleep. We had a fun time though, roasting hot dogs over a fire on the sled hill and sledding with Liam! Max lasted quite awhile digging in the snow before having a breakdown over not being able to walk well through the drifts. It was a good visit.

And today I am off to have a root canal.
Relaxing.
Cheap.
These are words that do not apply to the root canal experience...

Dreaming of Summer

On this freezing, below zero day...we're wishing for summer. And Uncle Dave's camp! We'll head up north for some fun in the snow today, but we can't wait for warm weather again!

Photoshoot

Between trips to the darkened bathroom to "fight General Grievous", Max and Liam posed for a few photos...

They are currently wrestling and screaming on the living room floor...

But they look so quiet and well-behaved here!

Appearances can be deceiving...

All Liam

This is Liam's Lego Brachiosaurus! He even took the picture himself!

Knock, Knock...

Who's there?
Max has been immitating Liam and his love for knock-knock jokes lately, but the only one he can do is the "orange you glad I didn't say banana" one. We tried to get his rendition on film, but this is all we managed...

Hide and Seek

The boys love playing hide and seek, and I encourage the game because (*parents, take note!) I can get a lot of cleaning up done while I count and then take an extra long time looking for them! Yesterday I discovered them hiding quite stealthily:

Pay no attention to that crap under my bed...

Crazy kids! They're so much fun.

Nerds

Aaron and I are such nerds. We like to reminisce about our love of book fairs, book order and the RIF program quite often now that Liam is in school. We order him books from book order more for our own enjoyment than his! Anyway, Liam's school is hosting a book fair this week and his class visited said fair on Tuesday. I found a list of books in his backpack that he'd like to "add to his home library" but that we are "under no obligation to buy." His list had three items:

1. True or False Plants
2. Snake-a-phobia
3. Ick Story

Can I buy him all three just for being so darn cute?!
