Proud moment...

I started singing "Over the Rainbow" to Liam a few months ago. He requests it every night and has the lyrics pretty much memorized. He knows that there is a movie they sing the song in, and he calls the movie "Over the Rainbow" as well. I've been waiting for the right time to watch The Wizard of Oz with him, and actually couldn't find my copy when a good opportunity came around. Aaron tracked it down on DVD at the library and we watched it tonight! I've been prepping him for the scary parts, and he did really well. He always asks lots of questions and wants to know what is happening at all times.

He was so excited when I asked if he wanted to watch it tonight. He sat on the couch with me, clutching the DVD case, for the entire movie. His eyes lit up when Dorothy started singing "Over the Rainbow", and he was pretty much engrossed in the story after that. He is such a sweet little guy. When Dorothy was crying in the witch's castle and missing her Auntie Em Liam's eyes were just filling up and he was fighting hard not to cry! He kept staring at the TV just looking so sad for her that I almost cried, too! I told him that Dorothy's friends would come and find her, and then he felt a little better. He did the same thing as she said goodbye to her friends and then after the hot air balloon floated off without her. His face just got so sad and his eyes were so teary. It always amazes me what a sensitive kid he is.

Aaron and I have been so excited to share the movies we love with our kids one day. It was so neat to watch him see The Wizard of Oz for the first time. He has his Star Wars book, and will no doubt see the movies before too long! It's just neat to share things you love with your kids.
